When I was young, a blind man spoke at my elementary school as a guest speaker. I can't quite remember what he spoke about, but I remember asking him one question. I asked him somewhere along the lines "what does a blind man see". He moved his head around as if he can hear nothing but the sound of my voice. Random I know.
He replied with "nothing". He explained that everyone assumes that he see's black and black only. He than explained that we assume this because when we close our eyes, we see the black from the back of our eyelids. We as humans associate that with nothing. He than told us that color is something we see, and he reminded us that he has no vision.
He then closed his statement with "I see nothing".
* It's crazy when I think back about this. What is nothing, and how does nothing look like if we can't see. We associate it with the color black, but if we can't see color than what can we see.
I feel like this sometimes . . .
